Introducing Harper Elizabeth Kunath

Harper Elizabeth Kunath was born Thursday November 12, 2009 weighing in at 6.1 lbs and 20 " long!  She is happy and healthy and perfect!  Danny and I could not be happier and feel more blessed right now!
We are making our first trip to the pediatrician on Wednesday to make sure everything is going well (eating and pooping I mean :) )  She seems to be pretty content when Grandma and Grandpa Roeth hold her though.
I'll keep this blog updated with more pictures in the future....but for now enjoy the pictures below of our first 6 days enjoying Harper!

She has her daddy's long toes!

Things I've learned while being pregnant!

In no specific order:
1. No matter how many times I get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and flush the toilet, Danny, Katy and Derby continue to snore and never wake up (you'd think they'd hear something).
2. Stretch marks appear in places I never thought they could.
3. I have mastered the pregnancy woddle.
4. I need to write a book on how much unwanted advice is given throughout ones pregnancy (specifically from people in grocery stores or at the mall that I do not know).
5. That men actually do make comments about your stomach size, and I don't always know if they think about what they are saying before they say it.
6. All the aches and pains that come towards the end of a pregnancy which are just not comfortable (I'm not complaining as I feel I am one of the lucky women who is just now experiencing back pain at 38 weeks).
7. How truly excited I get when I hear the baby's heartbeat.
8. How bad the internal exams really do hurt.
9.  That no one (not even other pregnant women) can tell you what an actual contraction feels like.  They always respond by saying, "You'll just KNOW!"  Well I don't know, please tell me!
10. I hate constipation, I repeat I HATE CONSTIPATION.
11. Soaking in the tub feels better than ever now.
12. People at work are overly helpful once you get to your third trimester.
13. If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me in the last two weeks, "WOW you are still here," Danny and I would be millionaires...sorry Danny I should have made that a rule.
14. The first 20 weeks of the pregnancy were very difficult, where I worried everyday because I could not feel anything, and wasn't sure if the baby even had a heartbeat (I think every new mom goes through this).
15. Weeks 20-30 went by so slow.
16. Weeks 30- now, have FLOWN by.
17. How much stuff does a new baby really need (apparently ALOT).
18. Danny and I have actually saved quite a bit of $$ because we aren't finding out the gender....if I knew I was having a girl, there would surely be a closet full of cute dresses.
19. This child consumes my every waking thought.
20. I love the website www.babycenter.com it gets me through alot of my questions
21. Every Wednesday I get an update from babycenter.com that tells me what the baby is currently doing, and sometimes I cheat by going to the website and reading what the baby will be doing next week, I get so excited I can't contain myself.
22. It's very hard for the men in our lives to understand what our body is going through...they don't feel the baby kicking and it weirds them out if they see our stomach moving in odd directions (atleast Danny felt this way).
23. That our child could find a comfortable spot sitting on my bladder, and make me feel like I constantly have to pee for 24 hours...that's been an interesting one.
24. What nesting really is......my boss thinks I'm nesting right now because I'm preparing my work binder so when I'm gone for 3 months he'll know how to do my job!
25. Sometimes you need a little caffeine in your life even though they tell you it's not good for the baby.
26. The house will never be totally spotless like I want it to be before the baby is born.
27. People ask all the time if our dogs have any clue....I really don't think they do. Danny points to my belly and asks our dogs whats in mommy's tummy, and I think they think I'm hiding a treat in there!
28. I work with a lot of men at Nissan (believe it or not) and the stories they tell me about their wives' pregnancies are HORRIBLE....I'm wondering if that's the real story or if they are just trying to scare me.
29. You can talk yourself into having any kind of complication with your pregnancy if you just Google what you are feeling.
30. How quickly the BAD smells take over your body in that first trimester, and then how quickly they leave.
31. How disgusting meat smelled during my first trimester, but now it doesn't bother me at all...it's like nothing ever happened.
32. Once you are pregnant how many other women you notice are pregnant too!

33. How much I have truly loved being pregnant!
34. The miracle of life is truly amazing, and I am in constant shock that a child is forming inside of me, and will be breathing on his/her own in less than two weeks.
35. How much my love for Danny has grown
36. How much I love that Danny doesn't let me lift ANYTHING heavy (or not so heavy).
37. How excited grandparents can get about the arrival of their future grandchild - which I love.
38. How much I really like my elastic waist banded jeans (which I never thought I would say).
39. How I can't wait to hold this baby in my arms.
40. How I can't wait to watch Danny change his first diaper and hold our baby in his arms.
41. How easy it truly has been to not know if our child is a boy/girl

OK this list is REALLY long, and I only intended for the list to hit #20...obviously I've figured alot more than I initially thought I did!

As of Wednesday I was 38 weeks pregnant (Danny took a picture this morning which I will post over the weekend).  I met with the doctor on Thursday and everything was still moving in the right direction. 1/2CM dilated and the babies heart beat was 120-130.  There will be no inducing before Nov 18th, and she seemed to think the baby was pretty comfortable in my stomach and didn't want to budge before then, which I'm perfectly fine with.  This weekend is supposed to be in the Mid 70's so Danny and I can enjoy one last weekend before our little one arrives!

I'll keep everyone posted on the blog if anything happens between now and Nov 18th!

Finally Full Term

I never thought this day would come.....as of today Baby K is considered Full Term! What a relief! I have anxiously been awaiting this week...secretly....knowing that if I hit 37 weeks and Baby K was still in my stomach everything would be properly working for this child to live outside of my stomach! YEAH!!! I did have my weekly doctor's appointment on Tuesday and everything checked out perfect! Baby K's heart beat was 145-148 BPM, my stomach was measuring 37 weeks which is right on track as well!

Last night was a very interesting night though....atleast for Baby K! I was laying on the couch, me on one end Danny on the other....it's hard now to squeeze both of us on one side.....my stomach just doesn't allow the cuddling that it used to. Anyways....I was feeling ALOT of movement from the baby, so I lifted my shirt up and sure enough I had a foot in my left rib, and a rear-end in my right rib....and Danny could see it all...he said your stomach looks DEFORMED :) That's because it was....this child really likes kicking my ribs...not that I mind, because I love feeling the baby move around in my stomach.

I did get the official word from the doctor on Tuesday that if anything weird happens I need to go STRAIGHT to the hospital, it's normally call the office and we'll decide what you need to do, but I think I'm at the point where anything can happen now.
We put the car seat in the Pathfinder on Sunday and that was an interesting task! Our neighbors got a good kick out of both Danny and I trying to do this. They sure don't make baby equipment easy for parents to put together now a days!

37 Weeks - taken this morning

Happy Belated Birthday Danny

I completely forgot to post a Happy 29th Birthday to my wonderful husband Danny!!!

So here's a little treat for everyone who needed a little "Danny" in their life! I love you!!

36 weeks and counting!

As of today I am officially 36 weeks!!! I think baby K is the size of a small pumpkin (around 6 lbs) conveniently. I have had a few people at work tell me that my stomach has dropped (I'm not quite sure what that means), but I'm hoping it doesn't mean that the baby will be here in the next few days! I'm sure Danny would enjoy not sharing his birthday with our first child...Just kidding Danny!!
Anyways...I went to the Doctor on Monday and she told me my cervix was thinning and I'm dilated 1/2 CM, which really has no significance at all. I could be dilated 1/2 CM for another 3 weeks or so! Starting this week I go to the doctors every week.....just to make sure I'm progressing each week!
I'm still feeling pretty good, although sleeping through the night has been very difficult lately.....I'm not sure if it's Derby snoring or the fact that I get up to use the restroom 3x's per night!

Last weekend Shelley Pratt threw our final baby shower for us! Shelley is a great hostess, and made the most adorable cakes (diaper cake made by her) and YUMMY eatable cake (made by her mom)! THANK YOU!! We received so many thoughtful gifts from friends and family, we have very little left to get thanks to everyone!! We will be making one more trip to Babies R Us this weekend, just to make sure every last thing is checked off the list in case Baby K decides to make an early entrance into the world! If not mentally ready we'll be physically ready that's for sure!

Shelley and I...the hostess with the mostest!

OK..I was trying to post more pictures of the shower, but it's not working right now. I'll post more when this blog decides to let me!!

Happy TWO Year Anniversary - Danny

I'm a little late on posting this, but wanted to put a special note up on the blog to Danny!

First off I can't believe it has been two years......they have gone by so fast! I have enjoyed every waking moment that Danny and I have been married and the three years before that when we were just dating!! Danny has been my best friend and soul mate, and I can't thank him enough for everything that he has done for me and with me! He has been my greatest inspiration in life, and I hope to celebrate many more Happy anniversaries with him!!
We are about to embark on the biggest adventure of our lifetime, and I couldn't imagine sharing it with anyone else! I can't wait to see Danny hold our first child!

Happy Anniversary Danny! I love you!

Baby Shower & 10 Year High School Reunion part II

Thank you to Bubbs and Sarah (and Peggy) for hosting my very first baby shower for Baby K! We had an absolute blast during the shower, and it was so good to see everyone that I had not seen in forever! Thank you all for making the shower such a memorable experience!!!
I also had a second shower the following weekend which was amazing as well! Danny and I are very blessed to have such loving friends and family in our lives! I only have pictures from the first shower, as my mom has yet to send pictures from the second shower (but Thank you Teresa and Mert for hosting our second shower)!
A few weeks ago, Danny and I were also back in Piqua to reminisce with my high school friends at our 10 year high school reunion! I couldn't believe how many people looked the exact same, but everyone looked great!!! I'm also pretty sure I was the ONLY sober person to attend the reunion, which actually worked out well since I was designated as the DD for quite a few people! I'm just glad I could get everyone home safe and sound! I lasted until 3am that night..pretty good for an 8 month pregnant lady!!
I had a Dr's appointment this past Monday and everything is checking out just fine! I'm currently 34 weeks along, with only 6 weeks left until my due date (Nov 18th). Baby K's heartbeat was hovering around 150, and she said everything else checked out great! I did finally figure out what keeps "kicking" me in the middle of the night, and it turns out it's only Baby K's butt :) I thought that was hilarious! The Dr. said that the baby is head down, and has no way to go breech now.....there isn't much room for it to move around or rotate positions between now and my due date!
Fall has finally come to Nashville, and this is Danny and I's favorite season! I love the weather (sweat pants and sweatshirts....which I now have to wear Danny's sweatshirts), changing of the leaves, sitting in front of our fire pit, and wishing I was enjoying some kind of Octoberfest or Pumpkin beer! Only 6 more weeks until I can enjoy one of those! We pulled down our fall decorations last night, which was exciting and Danny will begin the FUN process of decorating our house today! I did find our dogs costumes, and we had a good long laugh last night....if you know our dogs they HATE being dressed up! We took a few practice photos with our new camcorder/camera of the dogs, and you'll see once I post the pictures how miserable our dogs really look!!!
To be honest, I really can't complain too much about my entire pregnancy...everything has been fairly easy and we've had no real problems....I feel very fortunate and now I probably need to knock on some wood! I'm hoping since my pregnancy has been easy thus far, the labor will be just as easy! BUT who am I kidding!!
I hope everyone enjoys the fall weather and until the next post!

Baby K's nursery - special preview

We are about 60% complete with the nursery.....just missing a small lamp by the chair, round black mirror (which is impossible to find right now) above the changing table/dresser and finally some shelves and pictures on the wall. All the bedding is complete, as well as the curtains! Now if only we could find the last few items to complete the room, and then Baby K is welcome to come at anytime.....wait I mean after he/she is done cooking...so at least 7 more weeks!

3D/4D Ultra Sound Picture

It's been a long time since I've updated the blog with some baby pictures! SORRY.
Danny and I went to our 3D/4D ultra sound on Saturday, and I did everything that the nurse ordered.....scheduled the time when Baby K is the most active, drank a coke right before the appointment, but unfortunatley the baby was in a commatose and as much poking, prodding, jumping around, twisting and turning as I could do, nothing worked...he/she would NOT WAKE UP! So above is the best picture we could get from the appointment! It's very hard to see alot in the picture, and the nurse said fat is still forming all over the baby, so the face looks a little puffy (according to Danny). In my opinion the baby has Danny's lips and chin (I only say this because when Danny is VERY tired he puffs his lips out and sucks his chin in....and that is exactly what the baby is doing...IMAGINE THAT)!! Danny thinks it has my nose......but I guess we'll just have to wait and see who the baby actually looks like!

I also included a side profile picture of me right before the appointment.....which makes me 30 1/2 weeks. :) Still feeling great....Baby's heart beat is still consistent around 150-160 BPM.

We are planning on taking some pictures of the nursery this afternoon, so I'll update the blog again tomorrow with more pictures!

I can't believe we are down into the single digits until the baby will be here!!

Week 28

First picture is of me, Danny, Shelley, Addison and RJ before heading out to the Keith Urban concert last Saturday!
Second picture is of Danny and I enjoying some pre-concert pizza! YUM YUM!!!
I am 28 1/2 weeks in these pictures and still feeling great!! Our next Dr. appointment is this Thursday, and I cannot wait to see how things are progressing!!

This is DEFINITLEY Danny's child!

Not that I ever doubted that Danny was our child's father, but as funny as it may seem, in the 2nd picture to the left, our "WONDERFUL" child is flipping us off in the picture! The tech went in to measure the top of the baby's lip to make sure there wasn't any issues with a cleft pallet, at first the baby had both hands covering it's face, she shook my stomach a little to try and get the baby to move it's hand, and then suddenly the baby gave us the finger....in saying DON'T bother me I'm comfortable!!! Then Danny said, wow "that really is my child!" Let's hope this child will work with us a little more when it enters the real world!! Danny also said the baby is mad at me, because I'm letting it live in a NY studio apartment, and not a NY penthouse......
So after many laughs, the tech did her measurements, and everything checked out normal (no cleft pallet, 4 heart chambers, still 10 fingers and 10 toes). She said everything looked great!!! She even mentioned that even if she wanted to find out if it was a boy/girl, she couldn't because the baby was sitting with it's feet tightly tucked under its bottom with its legs completely shut....we think it knows we don't want to find out!!! Nov 22nd, will definitely be a surprise as the only ultrasound we have left is the 3D/4D in mid September. The heart beat was healthy at 158 BPM as well!!
I'm still feeling great, although the swelling has begun to take over my feet...I traded my 5.5 shoe size for probably a 7 on Friday night (I thought I might have cut my feet off and traded a bear for their feet....atleast that's what they looked and felt like) :)
I'll update more on Friday as I go in for the Gestational diabetes testing on Thursday afternoon...I heard the drink is GREAT....just kidding!
Hope everyone is doing well!!

Week 23

Above is a picture of my ever growing belly from week 23! Almost at the 6 month marker!!
I'll update the blog more next week as we have an ultrasound scheduled for Monday and my monthly checkup next Thursday as well!

Baby is Happy and Healthy!

I had my monthly checkup this past Thursday and everything checked out just fine! The Dr. was very pleased with the heartbeat at 154 and seemed to think that my weight gain and where the baby was sitting looked just about right as well. Danny and I will get another sneak peak at what Baby K is up to on August 3rd, which we are very excited about! The ultra sound technician did not get enough pictures of the heart, so we need to do another ultra sound in a few weeks to see if the baby will cooperate this time around!!! Nothing to worry about it's standard procedure.....we think the baby was a little shy (doesn't take after Danny nor I).
Danny will be busy this weekend painting the baby room a dark khaki color (I'll post pictures once we get some furniture in). I can't believe I'm already 21.5 weeks....time really has flown by and we have enjoyed every moment of this pregnancy! The baby has been moving a lot more often now, and Danny is very anxious for the day he can feel the baby himself. The butterflies have flown away and I'm now feeling some bubbles popping in my stomach (which the Dr said is the baby doing flips)....maybe there's a gymnast in there!
Enjoy your weekend and I'll post more next week!!!

Baby K is the size of a banana!

I read on babycenter.com that Baby K is the size of a banana this week (20 weeks), and these pictures were taken when I was 19 weeks.......I just can't believe that he/she is the size of a banana!!! He/she looks HUGE to me!
We had our first ultra sound June 26th, and everything checked out great! The technician took about 45 minutes to do all the tests she needed to do and Danny and I enjoyed every minute of it! Baby K actually had the hiccups at one point, which was rather hysterical. Danny keeps telling me we have an American Idol on our hands b/c he/she is singing in the 2nd picture! I'd like to think that Baby K is blowing kisses to everyone!
Our due date was re-calculated to Nov 22nd, instead of Nov 18th....so maybe baby K will be a turkey baby after all!
We have our next appointment this Thursday and I will update once we get back from that as well, along with pictures from our wonderful trip to Italy!

We may have a champion swimmer on our hands.

Danny and I had our 3rd doctors visit on Thursday (yesterday) and everything checked out GREAT! It was a very quick appointment, I didn't even have to change my clothes, which I thought was a plus. BUT the most amazing part was hearing the heartbeat again (150 BPM)! I don't think that is something I will ever get tired of hearing :) Baby K must have been swimming laps in my stomach, because Dr. Mullaly couldn't keep up with him/her for a long enough period of time to listen to the heartbeat for more than 10 seconds! Kind of funny, but as we were trying to find the baby, we heard a loud kind of like a bubble popping in my stomach. (Later Danny told me he was about to ask if the baby farted, when the Dr. told us the baby KICKED :) ) Very cool feeling, I must admit!
I have actually felt the baby kicking or moving around a lot lately (started last week) and it honestly feels like someone is tickling the inside of my stomach. It's a very surreal feeling, but amazing at the same time. Danny laid his head on my stomach the other night hoping he could feel/hear something...the baby was moving around right where his ear was, but Danny could only hear water moving around in my stomach....so all I can assume is the baby is not quite ready to let Daddy feel where he/she is yet.
Oh I forgot to mention that we scheduled our first ultra-sound for June 26th....right before our trip to Italy so we should be able to share a video of the baby by that time!
I hope you all have a great weekend! Danny and I will be busy working on our wonderful lawn this weekend, that is if the rain will subside until Monday at least!

17 weeks and counting......

As you can see....Baby K has started to make its appearance into this world!!! It's kind of surreal, but more shocking to me at this point. This morning as I was getting ready for work, knowing that I would be taking this very picture from above......I asked Danny if I needed to put on an extra layer around my stomach.....just to make sure you couldn't see anything you shouldn't. He laughed and said, "You're pregnant Megan and it's ok if people notice now!" Thanks Danny!!!

We have our next Dr. appt this Thursday.......to hear the heartbeat again (which I'm looking foward to), check to make sure everything is staying on track health wise, and most importantly to schedule our ultrasound...YEAH!!! Hopefully we can schedule the ultrasound sooner than later!!!

Last weekend Danny and I headed to Lake Keowee in South Carolina to visit Danny's college friend Haus......while we were there we got some much needed sun, relaxed, hung out with good friends, and road on Haus's boat...and all I can say is WOW!!! On Sunday we drove to Atlanta to visit Danny's mom and go baby furniture shopping! Which I have to admit, was very successful...not only in the baby category but we also got some items for a few other rooms in our house (like a dresser for our receiver/DVD player which has been sitting on a speaker box for the last 2 years)! I will post more pictures once we start putting the room together!

Baby K's first official picture

I know these images are VERY hard to see, but I wanted to make sure I posted our ultrasound pictures when Baby K was 8 weeks old! If you look really hard, you can see a + sign......that's where the little peanut is hiding!

Guess what.....we're PREGNANT!!

So, it's taken me almost 3 months to actually sit down and create this blog! I haven't taken any pictures yet, so don't be mad! I promise to take some this weekend, of the belly I don't quite have YET :)
Overall I've been feeling pretty good lately, no more weird smells, nauseousness, or anything that remotely makes me feel in the least bit pregnant! I can finally stay up past 9 pm, which in Danny's eyes is AMAZING!!! We did have a Dr.'s appointment 2 weeks ago, where we could finally hear Baby K's heartbeat, which was absolutely out of this world! Danny came in after the Dr. had been searching for what seemed like 5 minutes for the heartbeat (but I'm pretty sure it was only 30 seconds). To me it sounded like Derby/Katy huffing after we took them on a long walk....both Danny and the Dr thought that was kind of funny (or maybe they thought it was weird and were just trying to make me feel better)! Either way, the baby had a 165-170 heart rate, which is really good!! Our next appt is June 11th (just a check up), but thats when we get to schedule our ultra-sound (which if you already don't know we aren't finding out the sex of the baby). I know, I know...hold back your emotions.....Danny and I would like it to be a suprise!
That pretty much sums up the past 3.5 months. Oh, and the most important thing to share....our due date is November 18th, 2009! Which means, our little turkey will be arriving right around Thanksgiving, hence the title of our blog....Here Comes the Turkey!
