Christmas 2010

Merry Christmas from the Kunath family!

Harper's First Birthday

 Sorry I'm going backwards.......
The day started off with mommy and daddy singing Happy Birthday to Harper when she woke up in the morning, she loved it!  Then we went to lunch at Chuckie Cheese where Harper enjoyed the games over the pizza (as did her daddy)!

My party was on Saturday and my birthday fell on a Friday so we played all day Friday with family and friends!!!  Saturday was the BIG party, and boy was Harper ready.  We had to actually wake her up around 11am before the party started because she was definitely RESTING up!!!  Harper enjoyed her cake (I made an oreo dirt cake for her Smash cake, put it in a pot and added a rose). She loved it.

Happy Birthday Harper!  You have brought absolute joy to your dad and I's life! We love you more and more each day!

Chuckie has his top two teeth and I have my bottom two teeth!

Here comes Baby #2

Ok, so this picture is a little old (I'm 17 weeks pregnant) and am now currently almost 21 weeks pregnant.  I know, I know you can't really see the little bambino with this outfit on, BUT I wanted to post a picture the same week I took one with Miss Harper (I had no noticeable belly with her either) so I could keep their books similar and not slack off on the second one like I know most people do (no offense). This blog is helping me :)

Current pregnancy:
How many weeks: currently 20 weeks and 5 days
Due Date: May 13, 2011
Gender: BOY (found out on Dec. 23rd)
Cravings: Salty and sweet - at the beginning wanted ONLY fast food (bad for the hips)
Size of Baby K: Banana
Best Feeling: feeling the baby kick
What I miss the most: drinking a glass of wine or having a beer with Danny

So the best news was on my 30th birthday. We went in for the usual ultra sound and Danny let me decide if we were going to find out the gender of baby #2. First the ultra sound tech made sure all was healthy with the new baby. Everything checked out fine, and the heartbeat was 149. Danny was playing with Harper in the same room, but sometimes she can consume all of ones attention, while the tech was showing me the umbilical cord....asking do you see it, do you see it. Me thinking yea I see it, and then she said well....do you see it (not really), but I guess I said, "Is it a boy?" She said yes, and Danny's head cocked up VERY quickly exclaiming, It's a boy?"  After the initial shock was over, the tech conitnued with the bottom half of the check, which included feet, etc.  Every shot was an open legged shot - I'm opening our little boy is not so open in the future!  Here is a picture of the little one on the way!
Baby Boy Kunath (here I am mom and dad)
Side profile shot - PERFECT
Needless to say we are very excited that we will be welcoming a baby boy into our family on May 13th!!!  We did somewhat have a girl's name picked out, but now since that is out of the question we'll need to think of some STRONG boy names!!!

Wanted to share the great news with everyone and keep a journal along the way for Baby #2!

Love,
Megan

Harper is 6 months old!

Every month as I sit down to write these updates for Harper, I can’t believe how fast time truly flies by! Harper has been an absolute joy in all of our lives, and as I write each email I think oh boy, this is my favorite month (age) and then she does something new and exciting the next month that makes me think oh no, this is definitely my favorite age! Harper is really starting to become a neat little person and she continues to bring happiness and laughter everyday to Danny and I!

Some of the things that Miss Harper is currently doing at 6 months:
1.  She is currently eating pears, sweet potatoes, apples and avocados. She CANNOT get enough of the pears and apples and actually leans so far forward in her Bumbo seat that I think she may tip it over if I can’t get the spoon in her mouth fast enough. She would rather do without the sweet potatoes but manages through them. She absolutely HATES avocados (which we tried for the first time this past Tuesday). It was actually very hysterical to watch her try and eat them. I understand the consistency is a little different from the other three foods she’s been eating, but she plows through about the first four bites, and then realizes she doesn’t like them. She will absolutely scream and then she’ll calm down and shut her mouth, but then realize there are still more avocados in her mouth so she starts screaming again. I then wipe her mouth out with a towel so there are no more avocados in her mouth! Last night was day two of trying the avocados we’ll try one more night and then we’ll start with Peas (OH THE JOYS) J
2.  She’s still eating 6 oz every 3-4 hours with adding in a little bit of food during dinner time – she really understands how to eat and what she needs to do, very little comes out of her mouth when she’s eating something she likes!
3.  While feeding her during dinner (with pears, apples, sweet potatoes or avocados) she has finally realized she has a tongue and the things she can do with it! Once I put the spoon of food in her mouth, she basically sprays me in the face by vibrating her tongue!!! Everytime she does it I just can’t stop laughing and then she starts to smile, and it really is adorable!
4.  When we feed her a bottle during the day (at least when she’s home with Danny or I), as soon as she sees the bottle she starts grunting/whining she wants that dang bottle in her mouth NOW. As of this morning, she was grabbing the bottle out of Danny’s hands and trying ever so hard to put it in her mouth (she can’t quite tip it to the level where the milk comes out), BUT it’s a start!
5.  She laughs ALL THE TIME and smiles constantly! Her school tells us that she smiles all day long and is just a very happy baby!
6.  She is consistently sleeping through the night – goes to bed around 8-8:30pm and gets up between 5:30-6am (we need to work on sleeping past 6 am, but if she’s sleeping through the night I guess that’s all we should ask for).
7.  She is rolling over from her back to her stomach and stomach to back ALL THE TIME – we can’t lay our eyes off of her for one second now, she is all over the place
8.  She is sitting up on her own, for 10-20 minutes at a time now….and LOVES playing with the jar o’ bugs her aunt Teresa Roeth gave her as well as a musical cookie jar that mommy purchased a few days ago – it counts to five and sings about shapes….the nose lights up and she LOVES it.
9.  I’ve noticed the past few nights that I have put her to bed – she will take her bottle and then basically fall asleep during the last few drops as I burp her, I will walk her up to her bedroom and we’ll sit in the rocking chair, I’ll read her two books. She can be completely out once I feed her and take her upstairs, but once I start reading to her she opens her eyes and wants to hold the pages and flip them! I was reading her a book last night about a Hedge Hog and she just keep looking up at me and smiling, it ABSOLUTELY MELTED my heart!! I love those precious one on one moments I have with her!
10.  We have moved out of the little baby bathtub, and have finally blown up the BIG ducky!! Harper can sit in the ducky all by herself and she plays with some water toys – she was a little unsure at first, but she LOVES the bath now!! It’s a lot easier for Danny and I to give her baths now, as she plays with her toys and we get down to the dirty work.
11.  She is wearing 6-9 month clothes and 9-12 month pajamas and size 2 diapers – BIG GIRL!!
12.  She had her first ear infection last week and her first fever of 102. I stayed home with her last Tuesday and took her to the Pediatrician on Wednesday they checker her ear, and gave her amoxicillin. It tastes like bubblegum and fortunately for us she likes it. Weird enough, I remember that medicine from when I was little (I guess some things never change). She weighed in at 14 lbs 8 oz.
13.  She still has blue eyes and they change different colors of blue with all the different outfits she wears
14.  She constantly sucks her fingers (right hand - middle and index finger). Whenever she starts to get tired, she arches her back and rubs her eyes (actually sort of scratches them) so we have to keep her nails extra short
15.  Harper loves hanging out by the creek with her daddy – she loves the sound of running water
16.  She LOVES Katy and Derby, and whenever they are around she just stares at them! Katy LOVES licking Harper and we have to work with Katy on ONLY licking her hands and feet and not so much her face. Derby is starting to warm up to Her….but he pretty much just licks her head if she is not looking
17.  We have her 6 month checkup next Monday – more shots YUCK.
18.  I celebrated my first mother’s day and truly felt blessed that I could share in the most wonderful gift of being a mother – with my own mother!! I guess once you have a child – you appreciate your mother more.
19.  I said last month I thought Harper was cutting some teeth – well NO TEETH yet, she is still drooling all the time, but still no teeth!
20.  She loves it when her daddy throws her up in the air – see picture above! I am always nervous, because he seems to do this right after she eats – I guess he’ll stop one day if she pukes on him!!!
21.  She is sitting in her big girl high chair - and it seems she may look like a little peanut in the chair!!

I said the same thing last month, but Harper is absolutely the best gift Danny and I could have ever asked for – she is truly a blessing to our family! We couldn’t have asked for anything more!

Harper is 5 months old

WOW…..I can’t believe I’m sitting down to write Harper’s 5 month email!! Time sure has flown by! Harper continues to amaze me everyday with the new things she is doing!

1.  She is now eating rice cereal every night right around dinner time and she actually understands and knows what to do…..she opens her mouth when she sees the spoon – it’s adorable!! I posted a video on facebook for all of you to enjoy!
2.  She eats 6 oz about every 3-4 hours ……and she recognizes her bottle and looks like a little birdie as we bring the bottle to her mouth (she held her bottle for the first time a few weeks ago, but always prefers to hold her ears with both hands as she eats)
3.  She smiles at every chance she gets – but gets a little shy when she sees herself in the mirror
4.  She loves it when Daddy talks to her about stinky poopies and boogers – she has the BEST smile that goes from ear to ear (it absolutely brightens my day)
5.  Can finally put her feet in her mouth – Daddy has been working on that for awhile now
6.  She rolled over at the end of March (both directions) and she refuses to stay on her back now, but is not quite content laying on her stomach…..it’s been interesting to say the least
7.  She slept 10 hours last night, and she only woke up once for a few minutes and soothed herself back to sleep!!! It took her about five days to understand that Mommy and Daddy were not going to feed her in the middle of the night if she woke up, so I think we may be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel – thank you Jesus for a full nights sleep again!!!
8.  We have a pretty good nighttime schedule: we feed her a bottle, burp her and then I read her a book before she goes to bed…..she LOVES books right now and is very aware when I read to her….she tries to grab the pages if they have furry objects on them!
9.  Our little girl is no longer being swaddled during the night, she prefers to sleep with her legs apart, but her feet touching and her hands above her head, touching her ears of course!
10.  Harper LOVES being outside and we found out this weekend she prefers to take naps in her swing from Uncle Andy while Danny and I do work outside!! It’s a great concept…..fresh air = great nap
11.  Harper refuses to lie on her back when Danny and I around and would much rather stand with the help of us of course – see second picture above!
12.  She sucks on her index finger and middle finger (no preference to a specific hand) ALL DAY long (no paci for her)!
13.  She has really started to notice the dogs – Katy and Derby…..and is constantly staring at them when they are around – we talk to them ALOT
14.  She has the CUTEST belly laugh in the world – she loves being bounced on yoga balls or our knees – while humming the giddy up song (you know what I’m talking about….and I’m sure you all are humming the tune in your head right now) – HA HA J
15.  Harper met her first boyfriend Ryan this past Saturday (see our Picasa website for a cute hand holding picture – April 2010 album)! http://picasaweb.google.com/dannykunath
16.  I think Harper is getting ready to cut some teeth…we can’t see them yet, but she is a SLOBBERY mess all day long – oh the joys of teething
17.  OH and I semi-weighed her last night….that was me getting on the scale without her; weighing myself and then weighing her and I together…..the difference was 13.5 lbs
18.  We have purchased size 2 diapers….haven’t put them on her yet, but as soon as we run out of the size 1 she will officially be in size 2 (BIG GIRL)
Harper is absolutely the best gift Danny and I could have ever asked for – she is truly a blessing to our family!! We couldn’t ask for anything more!!

Harper is 4 months old

Today Harper turned 4 months old….she is getting bigger as each day passes. I can’t believe she’s already 4 months old!
Some of the new things that she is doing:
1.  Rolling to her side (picture above)…and then not quite finishing a complete roll over to her stomach…she’ll just sit there and play with her fingers or suck her thumb. She is SO CLOSE to rolling over, but I’m thinking she’s just not ready. Which is ok with me….b/c that means once she rolls over we won’t be able to leave the room with her staying in one spot.
2.  Smiling whenever she sees Danny or I
3. Noticing herself in the mirror – and smiling at herself
4. Playing with her feet ALL the time
5. Sucking her fingers or trying to put her entire hand in her mouth (my brother counted last weekend….she tried to get 7 fingers in her mouth at the same time…it obviously did not work)
6. Laughing out loud (sometimes screaming)….I think she found her voice, and likes to hear it at the loudest octave possible
7.  Sitting in her bumbo and actually enjoying it
8.  She is SO close to sitting by herself unsupported….but as of last night I sat her up against a pillow on the couch, and she looked like the leaning tower of pizza….it was a slow but graceful fall J
9.  It’s become very hard to change her diaper, b/c she’s either playing with her feet, trying to roll over or sucking on one of her fingers
10.  Tummy time isn’t so bad anymore…..she’s really pushing up on her arms now
11. Sleeping longer through the night (last night she slept almost 8 hours straight through)
12.  Really starting to want to stand when you hold her on your lap (not that she can stand…but she really likes to stand)
13.  Loves it when Danny or I sing about boogers to her (or when Danny talks about her STINKY DIAPERS)…and oh YES Danny does sing too J
14.  LOVES bath time
15.  She is slowly starting to wear 3-6 month clothes (she is DEFINITELY wearing 6-9 month onesies)
16.  I ordered her first pair of shoes (3 pairs)….I thought Danny was going to kill me. Don’t worry her Ferrari shoes will fit probably by this winter (then she’ll really be stylin)!
17.  She saw both of her Great Grandma’s in the same week (now she has 3 Great Grandma angels watching over her (plus 3 Great Grandpa angels)….hopefully she’ll be taken care of in the “watched over by angels” department
18.  Loves being outside and watching the creek flow (I think she really loves the sound of the water and the fresh air)
19.  Has really started to notice THE DOGS…….they sniff her head when she’s on the floor, and she tried to grab Katy’s hair the other day….Katy just laid there and took it! Hopefully that’s how they’ll both be when she starts crawling and picking on them
20.  She still loves being swaddled….I’m scared when she won’t be able to fit into her swaddle anymore, because she sleeps SO WELL being swaddled now!
21.  She loves her bed, and as soon as she gets swaddled and laid in her bed at night….she’s OUT (no more crying)
I can’t believe how much love both Danny and I have for her……I never knew how much you could love a little human being as we do her….she is the GREATEST gift God could have ever given to Danny and I – I know think Danny has a soft spot for little girls….or maybe just Harper!
We are very blessed to have such great friends and family in our lives, and we hope you will each be apart of Harper’s lives FOREVER….and watch her grow into an amazing woman someday (not too soon though)!
Next Tuesday Harper will have her 4 month shots…YUCK I hate those. I’ll be taking off the rest of the day to be with her.

Harper is 3 months old

WOW...I can't believe Harper is 3 months old today....boy has time flown by. Wanted to send you all a few pictures that I took today of Miss Harper! She is getting so big, smiling all the time, starting to talk a lot more (coo I mean :), and is really coming into her personality! Danny plays a game with her where he sticks out his tongue and makes a loud noise, lately she has been trying to mimick him...I haven't caught it on video yet..but hopefully I will soon...it's super cute!
Tomorrow we are having Harper's 3 month pictures taken as well as our first family photo, should be interesting because her attention span is all of 10-15 minutes max!!!

Pictures attached.....Harper has recently begun to sit in her bumbo seat...she loves it as you can see by the picture! The second picture is from this morning...it was the first time she actually pushed up on her arms while she was on tummy time....I was so excited I screamed.....and Danny was a little worried something bad had happened...but I was just excited!!!
